Frederick R. Borden

Frederick “Fred” Ralph Borden, born October 3, 1937, passed peacefully on August 8, 2026. Fred was born in Chelsea and was the only child of Ralph and Elsie Borden.

Fred proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he attended Wentworth Institute and graduated as a draftsman. He spent the majority of his career working for Gillette, where he built a long and rewarding career.

In his retirement years, Fred enjoyed his love of automobiles, especially his beautiful Corvette, which he proudly displayed at car shows and events throughout New England. His Corvette was a source of great enjoyment and provided him with many opportunities to share his passion for cars with others.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Mary “Maureen” (née Molloy), originally from the Galway area of Ireland; his daughters, Maura Crescenzo and her husband, Dr. Donald Crescenzo, and their daughters, Caroline and Sarah; Margaret “Peggy” Curry and her husband, Dan Curry, and their children, Conor and his wife, Brynn, and Ryan; and Michelle O’Reilly and her husband, Mark O’Reilly, and their children, Sean and his wife, Stephanie, and Katelyn. He was also blessed with the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Peyton O’Reilly, born to Sean and Stephanie on August 8, 2026.

Fred Borden’s memorial services will be held privately.
