Obituary

Frederick W. Krafton Frederick W. Krafton , 85, of Mansfield and formerly of Brockton, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy (Harris) Krafton. Born June 7, 1923 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Tony Krafton and Antonette (Orlofsky) Krafton. Raised in Brockton he attended Brockton Schools. Mr. Krafton served in the United States Army during World War II as a Sergeant. Sgt. Krafton was a well decorated World War II hero, where he received the Purple Heart Award, EAMET Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Bronze Star,Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal, and Distinguished Unit Badge. Sgt. Krafton captured nine Germans in a machinegun nest and returned them to his own lines. He was a member of a rifle company with the Fifth Army; he had previously led his squad in successful forays against two other enemy machinegun nests on the Italian Front. Mr. Krafton was a Real Estate Broker and had started the Fred Krafton Real Estate Agency in Brockton. He had previously worked for Burke Shoe Company. He was an avid golfer and was a former member of Wedgewood Country Club. He enjoyed square dancing and round dancing with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Harris)Krafton; his children, Debra Kelcourse and her husband Scott of Mansfield and Frederick D. Krafton of Marshfield; his grandchildren, Michael Kelcourse, Daniel Kelcourse, Scott Kelcourse, Kyle Kelcourse, Justin Krafton, and Christina Krafton; brother of Frances Curley of Braintree; he is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anthony Krafton, Stanley Krafton, and Helen Canelias. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, April 17th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Thursday 5:00-8:00PM.
