McGowan, of E. Wareham, formerly of Bridgewater, Frederick J. McGowan, 83 years. Husband of the late Mary (Ortalani) McGowan. Brother of Florence Nicholson of Falmouth and Mildred (Cosgrove) Baust of Hull.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 9:30am. Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center Street, Bridgewater, at 10:30am. Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-7pm.

Obituary Information

Mr. McGowan died Sunday morning at the Forest View Nursing Home, Wareham, after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Brockton, attended Brockton schools and was a son of the late John and Annie L. (Stack) McGowan. During WWII he served in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from ET Wright Shoe Company in Rockland after many years.

Since 1985 he had been a resident of East Wareham, previously living many years in Bridgewater. He enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by two sisters Mildred (Cosgrove) Baust of Hull, Florence Nicholson of Falmouth and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late M. Esther Tashjian, Charles McGowan, William McGowan, John McGowan, Anne Wright and Robert McGowan..
