Frederick Patrick Shay, 68 passed away peacefully at West Roxbury VA Medical Center on September 7th, 2016. Frederick was born on June 20th, 1948 raised in Hanson MA, was the son of the late James Daniel Shay and Mildred Shay (McGovern). He was one of six children, his siblings: James Shay, John (Jack) Shay, Dennis Shay, Robert Shay and his sister Carol Casoli.

Frederick P. Shay enlisted in the Air Force in 1969 during Vietnam era where he earned a National Defense Service Metal AFM 900-3.

He went on to marry Cynthia H. Shay on March 24, 1973 at the Church of Holy Ghost in Whitman MA. Following was the birth of his two daughters Melissa and Leanne. Sharing a marriage for 43 years.

Frederick had a passion for art and painting. He enjoyed painting beautiful nature scenic pictures. He went to culinary school and worked as a cook and enjoyed making home cooked meals for his family. He enjoyed trips to Nantasket Beach and Plymouth enjoying the ocean view. He had a love for seafood, his favorite were shrimp and lobster. He was a proud grandfather (Grampy) that loved spending time with his grandchildren making them laugh with his no filter personality.

In addition to his children Melissa (Shay) Cardoso, son in law Nirsebel Cardoso, Leanne (Shay) Rosario and son in law Ricardo Rosario. He was a loving and devoted grandfather (Grandpy) to nine grandchildren who he adored: Jessica McGinn, Ryan McGinn, Lexie Rosario, Cameron McGinn, Jadyn Rosario, Nerissa Cardoso, Darrion Cardoso, Madison Rosario, Mason Rosario and great grand daugther Julianna Poce.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 20th at Holy Ghost Parish, 518 Washington Street, Whitman at 9:00AM.  Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:00PM where she will be reunited together again with his late wife Cynthia Shay.
