Obituary

Gena C. (Valente) DeGirolamo, age 92, of Brockton, died March 11, 2015 at Good Samaritan Medical Center following a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife of the late Alfred D. DeGirolamo. Gena was a lifelong resident of Brockton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Cuneo) Valente. She was a 1941 graduate of Brockton High School and for several years had been employed at the former Goddard Medical Associates in the Records Room. Devoted to her family, Gena enjoyed staying home and raising her family, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Gena was the mother of Alfred S. DeGirolamo of Brockton and Nancy Gammons and her husband Michael of North Easton; grandmother of Kathryn Gammons of Brighton and Christopher Gammons of North Easton; sister of the late Theresa DiCicco, Mary, Steven, Louis, George and David Valente. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her special friend of 92 years, Viola Santoro.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday from 12-2pm, followed by a memorial service at 2pm. Burial will be held in the spring in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gena’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or Special Olympics of Massachusetts, 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.
