Obituary

George N. Asack, Sr., 94, of Brockton and North Falmouth, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at the Falmouth Hospital. He was the loving husband of nearly 70 years to Nellie Ann (Thomas) Asack. Born December 25, 1924, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Joseph Asack and Sadie (Maroon) Asack. Raised in Brockton, he attended Brockton High School and then served in the United States Navy during World War II. After serving in the Navy he then returned to receive his High School Diploma and then attended Suffolk University where he received his law degree and was the center on the basketball team, and also attended New England School of Law, where he served on their board of trustees for many years. George practiced law in the City of Brockton with distinction for thirty years before being appointed the first Lebanese American to serve on the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court where he received numerous honors for his thoughtful and compassionate decisions. He also served as a past President of the Plymouth County Bar Association. He traveled extensively with his wife and friends and enjoyed boating and fishing on Cape Cod. He was first and foremost the heart and soul of his family. In addition to his wife Nellie, he is survived by his children, Joseph G. Asack and his companion Joni, George N. Asack, Jr. and his wife Mary Jane, Gary P. Asack and his wife Catherine, David M. Asack and his wife Paula, Donna J. Fortin and her husband Ronald and Lisa N. Smith and her husband Gary; his grandchildren, Alina Nucera, Alyssa Rawlins, Jillian Asack, Christopher Asack, Derek Asack, Keith Asack, Emily Asack, Luke Asack, Ronald Fortin, Jeffrey Fortin, and Nicole Fortin; his great-grandchildren, Caden Nucera, Connor Nucera, Olivia Rawlins, Sophie Rawlins, Natalie Fortin, and Vincent Fortin; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday from 8:00-10:00AM followed by Funeral services of the Devine Liturgy in St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 North Main St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Donations may be made to the Old Colony YMCA, 320 Main St., Brockton, MA 02301.
