Online Obituaries George J. Petros, DMD, of South Weymouth and formerly of Brockton, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was the husband of the late Thalia N. (Nicholas) Petros. Born December 5, 1928 in Nashua, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late James Petropoulos and Christina (Demakis) Petropoulos. Raised in Nashua, NH, he graduated from Nashua High School, University of New Hampshire and Tufts Dental School. He also completed his residency in Oral Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Petros was an Oral Surgeon in Brockton for 45 years and was Chief of Oral Surgery at Brockton Hospital. He served in the United States Public Health Service. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton and St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Braintree. He was a loving husband to his wife for 60 years and a devoted loving father. He enjoyed spending time at his home in Brewster. He is survived by his children, Joan Petros, DMD of Weymouth and James Petros, MD and his wife Sue of Wellesley; his sisters, Jenny Elias and Nicki Liamos; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Calling hours will be held in St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common St., Braintree on Tuesday from 10:00AM-11:00AM followed by a funeral service in the church at 11:00AM. Private interment will be held in Brewster Memorial Cemetery.
