George J. Skordares George J. Skordares , 84, of N. Falmouth and formerly Brockton died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Laura (Pechilis) Skordares who he was married to for 55 years. Born January 4, 1926 in Lowell, MA he was the son of the late James George Skordares and Alexandra (Doukas) Skordares. Raised and educated in Brockton, he was a graduate of the class of 1944. George was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Kidd DD 661. He later worked for the Credit Data of New England and retired to Falmouth in 1988. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Brockton, Louisiana Veterans Memorial Foundation, Baalis Sanford Lodge of Brockton, Scottish Rite, Shriners International and Hellenic Square and Compass Club. George enjoyed the New England Patriots and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Laura Skordares of N. Falmouth; his two daughters, Andria Cicalis and her husband John of Woburn and Paula Zevitas and her husband Steve of Mattapoisett; his two grandsons, John Zevitas of Washington DC and Michael Zevitas of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his nephew, Jim Mantalos and his wife Barbara and family of Brockton. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in VA National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours Wednesday 5:00-8:00PM.
