Dufresne of West Bridgewater July 31, 2004 Gerald N. Dufresne, Sr. 88 years. Husband of Evelyn R. (Devine) Dufresne. Father of Gerald N. Dufresne, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Brockton; Richard J. Dufresne of Dennisport; Friar James Dufresne, O.F.M., Conv. of Libertyville, Illinois and the late Cathy Bertoldo. Grandfather of Linda Frost, Brian Dufresne, Mary Neal, Meghan and Kevin Dufresne. Great grandfather of four.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10 am. Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church W. Bridgewater at 11 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 pm. Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society 1115 W. Chestnut St. #301, Brockton, MA 02301.

Obituary

Mr. Dufresne died Saturday evening at St. Joseph Manor, Brockton after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Whitman son of the late Edmund J. and Mary E. (Avey) Dufresne. He was a resident of Brockton for most of his life before moving to Matfield Woods in W. Bridgewater 20 years ago.

During WW II he served in the US Army.

Mr. Dufresne retired as secretary-treasurer of Brotherhood Shoe and Allied Craftsmen Union in Brockton. He was a also a member of the Musicians Union Local 138, the Board of Directors of Brotherhood Credit Union in Brockton and the American Legion Post #35 in Brockton.

He was also a member of the Matfield Woods Association and a longtime communicant of St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater.In addition to his wife 65 years Evelyn R. (Devine) Dufresne he is survived by 3 sons Gerald N. Dufresne, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Brockton; Richard J. Dufresne of Dennisport and Friar James Dufresne, O.F.M., Conv. of Libertyville, Illinois. Five grandchildren Linda Frost, Brian Dufresne, Mary Neal, Meghan and Kevin Dufresne. Great grandfather of four.He is survived by 5 brothers Edmund Dufresne, Jr., Louis, George, Richard and John Dufresne all of Brockton and a sister Eva May Rocha of Taunton, Many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Cathy Bertoldo and brother of the late Florence Mahan, Evangeline Landry, Beatrice Muniz, Louise Dufresne and Albert Dufresne.
