Geraldine C. (Lupica) “Gerrie” Condon 83 years old of Brockton died Saturday Sept. 17, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife of James B. Condon for 60 years. Gerrie was born in Brockton a daughter of the late Joseph A. Lupica and Louise O. (Conora) Lupica and she remained a lifelong resident of the city. A 1945 graduate of Brockton High School, Gerrie retired in1992 from the Brockton School System as secretary to the principal at East Junior High School.
Gerrie enjoyed winters in Largo, Florida and handiwork such as cross stitch and knitting. She also enjoyed word search puzzles. She had been very involved in St. Margaret Church where she taught CCD and was a member and past president of the Ladies Solidarity. Most importantly, Gerrie enjoyed time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her strong will and big heart were her trademarks; she was full of character.
Gerrie was the loving mother of James M. Condon of Carver, Elizabeth L. Carter of Gray, Maine, Susan C. Condon of Hanson and Christopher J. Condon and his wife Elizabeth of Raynham. She adored her eight grandchildren JC, Jacqueline, Heather, Nicholas, Christopher, Chelsea, Timothy and the late Jennifer, whom she joins in heaven. Gerrie came from a large Italian family of 16 children and is survived by her siblings Emily Merra, Virginia McDonald and George Lupica all of Brockton. She also leaves seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 4-8 pm with the recital of the Rosary at 7:30 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass in
St. Edith Stein Parish
