Gerard Auguste, age 94, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Olivia Louis Auguste.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he was the son of the late Francois Auguste and Felicine Desir. Growing up, Gerard possessed a fierce dedication to his education. As a young child, he constantly pushed himself to be at the top of his class, earning a coveted selection to visit the Presidential Palace during Christmas to receive gifts directly from the president.

Undeterred by adversity, he continued to pursue knowledge independently until circumstances allowed him to formalize his education through night school.
In his adult life, Gerard turned his sharp intellect and work ethic toward a lifelong career as a dedicated craftsman. He became a master dry cleaner and finishing specialist, spending decades perfecting his trade. Renowned for his rare, expert knowledge of garment care, he skillfully operated industrial machinery and mastered the precise, intricate art of fabric pressing to become president of Modern Dry Cleaners in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
Beyond his professional craftsmanship, Gerard was a passionate leader and intellectual. He proudly served as president of the Laborers Union in Haiti, fighting dedicatedly for his fellow workers. His diverse interests also included singing, reading, and engaging in deep conversations about politics. Above all, he was a pillar of strength, resilience, and devotion to his family.
