Wessling of Brockton, May 28, 2003 Gertrude M. (Hickey) Wessling, 90 years. Wife of the late Professor Herbert A. Wessling. Beloved mother of James H. Wessling of Kingman, AZ. and Paul V. Wesslingof Boston. Devoted grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass Tuesday June 3, 2003 in St. Mary’s Chapel at Stonehill College, 320 Washington St. in Easton at 9 am. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Herbert A. and Gertrude M. Wessling Scholarship Fund at Stonehill College, Atten: Mr. Timothy Lawlor 320 Washington St.,Easton, MA 02356. Arrangements are by J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, Brockton.
Obituary
Mrs. Wessling died Wednesday after a brief illness. She was born, raised and educated in Boston, a daughter of the late James and Helen (Fitzgerald) Hickey. Mrs. Wessling had been a resident of Brockton since 1958.
During 1930s she worked for the newly formed US Forest Services on the project to save the American Elm Tree and during WWII she worked at the Charlestown Navy yard.
She is survived by 2 sons, JamesH. Wessling of Kingman, AZ. and Paul V. Wessling of Boston, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was the wife of the late Herbert A. Wessling
