Giovanni B. "John" Ferrara Giovanni "John" B. Ferrara, 83, of Charlestown, RI and formerly of Brockton, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 a the Roberts Health Center in North Kingstown, RI after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Sophie (Crealese) Ferrara for 62 years. Born November 27, 1923 in Brockton, he was the son of the late John and Ida Ferrara. Mr. Ferrara was a retired Shipper and Receiver for Atherton Furniture Store for 40 years. He was also a professional Musician in Country Western bands for over 35 years. Mr. Ferrara was a Brockton resident for 80 years before moving to Charlestown, Rhode Island. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sophie (Crealese) Ferrara; his daughter Valerie Szlatenyi of South Kingstown, Rhode Island; his grandchildren, Dena Ortiz and Christopher Szlatenyi both of RI; his sister, Ida Feoderoff of Raynham; he is also survived by one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of 8 deceased brothers and sisters. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday, October 4th at 8:00AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM.
