Glenna Lorraine Paananen 101 and just 5 days away from her 102nd birthday passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2022. For the last few years Glenna resided at her daughter's home in Easton Mass.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Leo Paananen who died in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Paananen and wife Theresa Paananen of Plymouth Mass, Marylou Durdan and husband Thomas of Easton Mass, John Paananen of Hazel Park MIchigan, Charles Paananen and late wife Lisa Paananen of Brockton Mass and predeceased by daughter Gail Loughlin and surviving husband Thomas of Brockton Mass. 11 grandchildren Karen Tagliaferri, Carl Durdan, Thomas Loughlin, John Durdan, Michael Paananen, Kristen Hayes Allen, Sarah Hamilton, Andrew Paananen, Alex Paananen, Matti Paananen and predeceased by Kimberly Paananen. 18 great grandchildren whom she adored more than anything and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Brockton on June 23rd, 1920, she was the youngest of four sisters born to Harris Tucker and Marie Arsenault Tucker. She spent most of her life in Brockton Mass and raised her 5 children with her beloved late husband Leo Paananen. She was a seamstress and worked for many years in Brockton and Boston. She was an avid quilter and loved to paint, play cards and enjoyed gardening and entertaining friends and family. Her kitchen table was an open invitation, where friends, neighbors and relatives always had a place to sit and an ear to listen. She enjoyed yoga and studied genealogy. She was the past regent of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Deborah Sampson chapter. She loved fashion, shopping, fancy hats and loved her high heels, even in her later years. She was a member of Christ Congregational Church in Brockton and was the longest member there, having joined when she was just 16 years old. She was a friend and like family to almost everyone who ever got to know her. Her legacy will live on through all of us. Her family is thankful she lived a life most could only hope for and was very well until her very end. She will be dearly missed.
Following cremation, a memorial gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00PM followed by a memorial service at 6:00PM. Interment will be on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11:00AM in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
