Glenness R. (Fuller) Calhoun
Glenness R Calhoun, aged 93 years, died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, October 23, 2011, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late George W Calhoun; they had been married for 42 years, before his death in 1984.
Glenness was born on March 3, 1918, in Bath, Maine, the only daughter of the late Frank and Hazel (Pelletier) Fuller. After attending St. Patrick's School in Roxbury, she was trained as a Registered Nurse at the former Boston City Hospital. She worked as a nurse most of her life, not retiring until she was in her late 70s. She spent most of her leisure time doing things for others, and will always be known as a caregiver. She loved to cook for family and friends, and adept at knitting, making Christmas stockings for all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her grand-dogs.
She is survived by three sons, Walter "Bud" F. Calhoun, Gerald J. Calhoun, and Rev. Ronald G. Calhoun, Pastor of St. Michael's Church in Hudson; one daughter, Mary F. Calhoun, who cared for her during her period of illness, loving grandmother of Matthew Calhoun, and special grandmother to T.J., Michael, and Sean Gallagher, cherished "GG" of Will, Nate, and Lilah Calhoun and Liam, Maggie, and Caitlin Gallagher. She was sister of the late Montley Fuller.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 27th at 11:00AM at the St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson, followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Wednesday 4:00-8:00PM.
