Obituary

Guillermo Mancortes Guillermo Antonio Mancortes affectionately known as "Billy" entered his life on February 10, 1931. The oldest son of the late Antonio F. and Maria Fuentes Alpizar. He was born and grew up in Matanzas, Cuba. He was educated in the Catholic school St. Francis Assisi School System, and graduated from Pablo Torriente High School. His siblings, Elena, Luis, Armando and Pepe Mancortes all reside in Cuba. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for a few years, while serving in the army. In 1959 the Cuban government changed, forcing him to leave and arrive in Miami, FL., living there for a while and later moving to Boston, MA., working for Master Cleaning Service, Co., and as a taxi driver. After a number of positions around Boston, Billy became an accomplished group leader and then became a supervisor. He worked for 25 years at Honeywell Co., in Brighton, MA. He enjoyed traveling, music, cooking and especially good fine food. In 1970 he met and married Olga M. Briggs Bellamy in Boston, MA. From their union he was the devoted father of five children, William A. Mancortes, Jr., Maria C. Liao, Ivette J. Mancortes, Hosea F. Mancortes and Isaiah F. Mancortes; Beloved special son, Cody J. Hilts, son in law, George Liao and daughter in law, Pat Mancortes. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Guillermo, Samira, Rosina, Kassandra, Yulianna, Rangel and Angel, and 1 great grandchild in Cuba. He leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and other adoring friends and relatives. Although unable to leave his home for worship for the past few years, Billy loved church and the Mount Moriah Family and loved prayers and encouragement on Friday, December 7, 2012, Guillermo "Brother William" departed this life onto external life with God. His journey to eternal rest is now complete. He will truly be missed by his wife and children especially by his siblings. Rest peacefully, Billy Funeral Information A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 24 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA 02301. Calling hours will be at the church prior to the service from 10:00am to 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Melrose Cemetery, Pearl St., Brockton.
