Obituary

H. Bernadette Hermanson H. Bernadette Hermanson , 91, of Pembroke, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Tower Hill in Canton. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Hermanson for 61 & 1/2 years. Born July 13, 1923 in Boston, MA she was the daughter of the late George and Helen B. (Baker) Walter. Bernadette worked for many years on the New Haven Railroad as a grill car hostess on board passenger trains operating between Boston and New York City or Springfield and New York City. Among the trains she worked on were the Merchants Limited and the Yankee Clipper, the two most luxurious trains operated by the New Haven Railroad. She was an active member in the Eastern Star for over fifty years. She was a member of the Hadassah Chapter, Pilgrim Chapter and Duxbury Chapter. She was the past worthy matron in the Hadassah and Duxbury Chapters. She was appointed the Grand Representative to Washington D.C. in 2004. For many years she served as chaplain for both the Duxbury and Pilgrim Chapters. Bernadette had a great interest in and a compassion for all animals. For many years she was a volunteer and contributor to the Standish Humane Society. She was a member of the Silver Lake Chapel in Plympton, MA. Bernadette is survived by her nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will be held at the Silver Lake Chapel, 33 Lake St., Plympton on Saturday, August 23rd at 11:00AM followed by an Eastern Star Service.
