Obituary

Online Obituaries Harry Marvin Collins, of Abington, passed away peaceful with his loving family by his side on Sunday November 22, 2015. Born on October 23, 1945, the son of Helen Collins and Harry Hunter. Harry attended the Boston Public Schools and after graduating from high school, he moved to New York to live with his cousins, before returning to Boston. In the early 1980s Harry moved to Philadelphia, where he met Marlo Larry in 1984. They moved back to Harrys home city of Boston that same year and started a life together with her son, Karim. After many happy years together, Harry and Marlo were married on September 30, 2004 on John Smiths Bay Beach in Bermuda with family and close friends in attendance. Harry worked at Dimmock Community Health Center in Roxbury for many years as a Substance Abuse Therapist, proudly earning his Bachelors degree in Human Services from UMASS Boston. After helping many people battle substance abuse, he changed careers and entered the Car Sales business when he moved to the South Shore. Harrys strong work ethic and desire to help others allowed him to achieve the status of #1 Salesman at every dealership he worked for. He loved what he did and was known throughout the car industry for his dapper hats and his sharp sense of style. He stayed SHARP all the time, but his passion was FISHING. Everyone always waited for Harry to come back from his fishing trips because they knew he would have a cooler full of porgies, haddock, cod or flounder, which he always generously shared with friends. Harry enjoyed traveling with family and friends to the Caribbean every year, going on cruises, unwinding on the beach in Newport RI, or just relaxing at home reading or watching his favorite TV shows. Harry is survived by his beloved wife Marlo, his son Karim, his cherished mother Helen, his sister Wanda, his nieces Tayla & Layah, his granddaughter Akiyah, his sisters in law Sonja Larry and Phyllis Lockett, his brother in laws Morris Givens , EJ Lockett and Warren Givens, his two best friends Gary Lee and and Bruce Carter as well as many other dear family and friends. Harry was loved by all and will be missed more than words can say. If youre fortunate enough to meet someone who will care for you in the bad times, laugh with you in the good times and put you above all others without hesitation regardless of the past. Then hold onto them tightly and never let them go, youve found your soul mate. Marlo and Harry #SoulMates Dear Pop Pop We all love you. We miss you very much.
