Obituary

Helen (Socarides) Covett, of Brockton, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the age of 99. She was the wife of the late Brockton District Court Judge George N. Covett. Born in Brockton on September 26, 1920, the daughter of the late James and Theodora Socarides, she was a resident of Brockton all her life. She graduated from Brockton High School in the class of 1939 and attended Chandler Junior College in Boston. She worked for the Real Estate Department of the Suffolk Savings Bank in Boston. In 1945, she married George N. Covett in New York City upon his return from serving in World War II in Europe. She was married for 58 years. A surprise gala was held on their 50th wedding anniversary in Boston. She was a member of the Woman's Club, Thorny Lea Golf Club and a past president of the Philoptohos Society at her Annunciation Church. She attended yoga classes for 40 years, faithfully and continued practicing daily throughout her life. She was the sister of the late Christos Socarides of Falmouth and the late Dr. Charles W. Socarides of New York City. She is survived by her son Dr. Robert G. Covett of Easton; granddaughers Katherine E. Covett of West Hartford, CT, Jennifer Sullivan, her husband Eugene Sullivan, and their children Elle and George of Easton; and their mother, Marilyn Vey. She also leaves her close cousins, the George Yiotopaulos Family and the Constantina Vardaxis Family; and her very close, faithful and dear friend, Alexandra Papigiotis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and Signature Healthcare. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, services will be private for immediate family.
