Helen S. (Dalkouras) Gatsonis, 88, of Coconut Creek, Florida formerly of Brockton, Massachusetts passed away on February 15, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents Stergios Dalkouras and Olga (Skipitaris) Dalkouras. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Christos Gatsonis of Coconut Creek, Florida. She is also survived by her beloved friends and relatives in Florida, New York, Massachusetts, Greece, and Australia.
She was born in Peristera, Greece on July 8, 1933 and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. Helen graduated from Brockton Evening High School and attended Brockton Business College. She then went on to have a career as a Bookkeeper and moved to Florida to join her daughter after her retirement.
Helen's passions and joy were her volunteer work. She was a very active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL where she taught Greek school among other activities, and also a member of St. Mark's Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, FL. She was previously an active member in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton, MA when she resided there. She freely gave her time to Loving Stitches, Pap Corps, The Daughters of Penelope and the Ladies Philoptochos Society.
She loved to bake and volunteer at the Greek festivals. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed making baklava and other delicious Greek treats. She loved knitting and crocheting and was often working on baby blankets to be donated to newborns at the hospital. Helen was loved and beloved by her many dear friends and relatives with whom she enjoyed socializing and having coffee and meals out.
Calling hours in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton on Saturday, February 26th from 11:30am-12:30pm followed by a Funeral Service in the church at 12:30pm.
