Obituary

Helen L. (Doiron) Sherburne, age 87, of Skowhegan, Maine, died March 28, 2015 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Gordon L. Sherburne. Helen was born in Madison, ME, daughter of the late Eva S. Doiron. She was raised in Skowhegan and was a graduate of Skowhegan High School. For over 20 years she had been employed by K-Mart in Scarborough, ME before her retirement in 1992. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and dog Bella, eating out, shopping, and traveling. Her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting and knitting. Helen will be remembered as a hard worker, who loved and cared for her family very much.
Helen is survived by her four children, Sandra Garland and her husband Gerry of Ocala, FL, Sheila Austin of Brockton, MA, Stephen Sherburne and his wife Joyce of Stanwood, WA, and Sherwood Sherburne of Skowhegan, ME; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind one brother, Alfred Hjort of Maine, and three sisters, Florence Dunbar of Maine, June Buzzle of New York and Linda Turcotte of Maine. Helen was predeceased by her brother Albert W. Hjort and her sisters Betty Clukey, Alice Gerald and Lillian Tuttle.
At Helen’s request services have been omitted. Burial will take place at a later date in Sunset View Cemetery, Norridgewock, Maine.
