Helen Mae (Worcester) Bendell, 89, died February 25, 2023, at All American Assisted Living in Hanson, MA. She was the loving wife of Robert Bendell. She was born on February 26, 1933, in Avon, MA, the daughter of the late Angie (Bourne) and Earl Worcester. She grew up in Avon and graduated from Avon High School.
Helen married the love of her life of 68 years, Robert. They lived in Millis, MA, and eventually settled in Brockton. She taught school in Avon Public Schools and retired in 1994, after teaching for more than 30 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her husband and four children. She loved working with children whether it be Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church groups, she was always there to lend a hand. She also was an avid crafter: making quilts for babies, intricate quilts, knitting, crocheting, sewing appeal, embroidery, Japanese Bunka art, painting on glass, teach others a craft, and anything in between. She always loved to read. Helen always lived her life for God.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She leaves her daughter, Joyce (Edward Christensen) Bendell of Delta Junction, Alaska; sons Robert (Muoi) Bendell of Rockland; Stephen Bendell of Louisiana; Peter (Pam) Bendell of Brockton, granddaughters Taylor Bendell; Lan (Max) Woodward; Anita Schloss, great grandsons Bo Dodge; Brandon Gillis; and Phillip Baptistia, and great granddaughter Allie Evans, as well as many relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, March 4, at Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., West Bridgewater, MA, at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Helen M.
