Henrique Alves Henrique "Papa" Alves, 105, of Brockton passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 after a period of failing health surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Vitalina (Mendes) Alves. Born October 17, 1906 in Fogo, Cape Verde he was a son of the late Manuel Alves and Maria Filipa Goncalves. He enjoyed walking, playing the guitar and watching wrestling. He was always known for buying different merchandise and products and reselling them to make a profit. He is survived by his children, Joao "Johnny" Alves of Central Falls, R.I., Joao "John" Alves, Elvira Alves, Antonio Alves, Maria Alves Monteiro, Ildo Gil Alves and Miguel F. Alves all of Brockton and Agnelo Henrique Alves of Pawtucket, R.I. He is also survived by his 38 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was the father of the late Edith Alves Barbosa. Interment will take place at a later date in Fogo, Cape Verde.
