Herbert Jackson of Brockton passed away on August 6, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Laura (Hardaway) Jackson; Devoted father of Danny Hardaway, Diane Jackson, Pamela Jackson, and Avery Jackson; Grandfather of Bashir, Haris, Rashad, Taura, Ricky, Kenitra, Dezire. Great-grandfather of London, Jacaral, Kainen, Tariq, and Darius; and "Extended Family" Morris and Billie Jean Alexander and their children Shawn, Kizzy, Shawnte, Dianellie, Sherron, Shane and Kaquan.
When Herbert was a teenager, he lied about his age to get into the US military at the tail end of WWII. At the age of 16, he received the WWII Victory Medal. He was attached to the 3202nd Maintenance and Utility Squadron. Mr. Jackson served thirteen years in the United States Air Force and served overseas during the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Bronze Service Star for exemplary service. He was also awarded the Korean Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal 4 times. Mr. Jackson attained the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving as both a supervisor of food service and Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge.
Calling hours will be held from 10AM-12 noon on Tuesday August 17 in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont Street, (Rte.123) Brockton. Burial will be private at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
