Hernan Alberto Melendez, 72, of Bridgewater passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was the husband of Nelida (Pagan) Melendez.

Born on August 7, 1951 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. Hernan was the son of the late Cirilo and Carmen (Colon) Melendez.

Hernan was retired from the Massachusetts State Police in 2006. He served 23 years in the department.

In his free time, Hernan enjoyed doing yard work and do it yourself projects, but especially loved spending time with his grandsons and family.

In addition to his wife Nelida, Hernan is survived by his daughter Odaly (Melendez) Rojas and her husband Jorge Rojas of West Bridgewater, his grandchildren Ruben Jorge Rojas and Ramon Hernan Rojas; and his siblings Juanita Melendez, Cirilo Melendez, Margarita Melendez, Matilde Melendez Franco and Abercio Melendez.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 19th from 12-3 PM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (RT28) West Bridgewater. A funeral service will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Monday, May 20th at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
