Hiep Thanh Nguyen, 76, of Brockton, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Bich-Ngoc Thi Tran for 52 years.
Born on July 13, 1944 in Le Thuy, Quang Binh, Vietnam, he was the son of the late Dam Thanh Nguyen and Dan Thi Nguyen.
From 1968 to 1975, Hiep fought in the Vietnam War for America, working for the American Embassy in covert operations.
He retired from Dickinson Advertising of Randolph where he worked as a printer.
Hiep, or "Happy Wayne" as he was known loved walking and exercising, playing pool, ping-pong, Chinese chess (Co Tuong), dominos and poker.
In addition to his wife, Hiep is survived by his daughter Lani T. Nguyen-Coelho of Brockton; his son Steve H. Nguyen of Delran, NJ; and his son Viet-Hung Nguyen and daughter in law Suzy Lithavong of Providence, RI; his grandchildren Jade Lithavong, Maddox Nguyen Lithavong and Gabriel N. Coelho; his sisters in Vietnam An Thi Nguyen and Ninh Thi Nguyen; his sister in law Van Thi Tran; his brother in law Diem Ho; his niece Nga T. Ho and nephew in law Xuan Tran; his nephews Don Ho and his wife Phuong Ho, Linh Ho and his wife Dafang Ho, Thao Ho, Johnny Ho and Trung Ho; and many additional nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.,(Rt.123) Brockton on Thursday, August 27th at 9:30AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:30AM. (Limited seating to COVID-19 restrictions) Following mass, the family would like to welcome anyone attending to participate in the procession to the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton for interment. Calling hours Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM.
