Ignace "Iggy" Santospirito, 88, of Middleboro, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020 at OakHill Healthcare in Middleboro. He was the husband of the late Audrey Bruttaniti (D'Errico) Santospirito for 21 years.
Born on February 10, 1932 in Tunis, Tunisia, Africa, he was the son of the late Antonio Santospirito and Francesca Catherina (Mangiaracina) Santospirito. Ignace served in the Italian Army from 1958-1960.
A barber for many years, Iggy made news in 2008 for making the 10-year mark as a barista for Starbucks and was praised for his dedicated service to the company and the customers they serve.
Iggy enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, skiing and dancing. He loved watching soccer games and was a manager, coach and player of the Men's East Boston Soccer Team in the 1960s. He also loved watching boxing, having been a boxer himself in the light/middleweight division.
Ignace is survived by his daughter Francine Sheedy and her husband Christopher; his grandchildren, Kristin Jessica Texeira, Jonathan Sheedy, Francesca Sheedy and Emma Lillian Sheedy; niece Patrizia Graffeo of Italy and two great nieces; and his nephew Antony Graffeo, also of Italy and daughter Pamela and her husband Roberto Carnevali. Ignace was also the brother of the late Lina Graffeo of Italy.
A memorial mass will take place at a later date in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater.
