Obituary

Irene H. (Carlson) Pigeon, age 84 of Brockton, died Saturday January 19, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Edgar J. Pigeon. Irene was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Ragnar and Helen (Brady) Carlson, was a 1946 graduate of Brockton High School and remained a lifelong resident of the city.

Irene retired as a teacher’s aide for the Brockton School Department spending many of those years at the Davis Elementary School. In her free time Irene enjoyed sewing and knitting and spending summers at the family cottage in Parkwood Beach in Wareham. She was also an avid Patriots fan and had been actively involved with St. Margaret Church for many years.

Irene’s true joy in her life was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irene was the devoted mother of Kenneth Pigeon and his wife Linda of Richford, VT, Donna Pigeon of Brockton, Steven Pigeon and his wife Sandra of Norton, Mark Pigeon and his wife Lorraine of Canton, Nancy Cohen and her husband Eric of E. Bridgewater, and the late Laurie Pigeon. She was the loving grandmother of Daniel and Jason Cohen, Brian, Michael, Mathew, Jacqueline, Meaghan and Dale Pigeon and Rachel Russin and great grandmother of Rebecca and Emily Russin. She also leaves a brother Ragnar Carlson of So.Yarmouth, a sister Gloria McDonald of Brockton and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater at 11 am. Burial in South Easton Cemetery.
