Online Obituaries Irene Ann Simmons, 55, of Brockton, Massachusetts went home to the Lord on Monday, November 12, 2012 in Canton. She was born June 2, 1957 in Brockton, the only daughter of Glenda and the late Hayward Simmons, both of Brockton. She received her formal educated through the Brockton Public School systems, where she excelled in her studies and later graduated from Brockton High School. Irene moved to Boston, soon after high school and lived there for over 32 years in the South End on Columbus Avenue. She went on to receive her Associate of Science degree from Fisher College in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Ms. Simmons was employed by Citizens Bank of Massachusetts a division of The Royal Bank of Scotland since 1978. Irene held many positions and worked at different branch location through the years, but her final position was as a Bank Teller Manager. In 2008, she received the President's Circle Length of Service Award for 30 years of her time, energy and contributions from the President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Financial Group, Inc. Irene demonstrated the highest level of professionalism, cared and always went above and beyond for customers. She sustained many strong bonds with her coworkers past and present. Ms. Simmons also worked as a bartender for Prince Hall and the Carver Lodge for over 20 years. Irene Simmons was an active member of the 464 Workshop a division of the Women's Service Club, Inc. of Boston, Massachusetts for over 25 years , where she served as the treasurer for over 5 years, a position she proudly held. She has participated in various community endeavors with the Service Club. Assisted in raising funds for many of the Service Club's outreach efforts by selling tickets and dancing in the Annual Follies productions for over 20 years. She received a Certificate of Appreciation for her hard work and dedication to the Service Club. Irene also volunteered and attended many community events. She loved good food, socializing, music, dancing, laughing with family and friends, going to Martha Vineyard, laying on the beach, and her private time. Irene had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and was loyal to a fault. Ms. Simmons leaves behind her loving children, Monique Screen-Berry with husband Sean T. Berry, Sr. and Quinton K. Williams; her siblings, Ricky Brown, Richard, Erica, and the late Richard and Lisa Simmons, Patricia Tagger-Ward, Michelle Jean-Pierre, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and close friends. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday, November 19th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Sunday 4:00-6:00PM.
