Irene E. Strong, 99, transitioned peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Brockton on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Irene was the cornerstone of her extensive family. Affectionately known as "Ma", she is survived by her two daughters and their spouses; Patricia and Leon Silva and Eleanor and John Avelino. She is the grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews living all over the country. Irene has one remaining sibling, her younger brother Edward Strong, also of Brockton. She was a devout Christian and a member of Brockton Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Ma's extensive family will miss her dearly and asks that the public respect their privacy in this time of mourning and celebration of life. At her request, there will be no public services.
