Obituary

Irmgard B. “Sonja” (Langfritz) Leslie, age 77, of Brockton, died February 11, 2013 at West Acres Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Leslie. Born March 3, 1935 in Furth, Germany she was the daughter of the late Johann and Karoline (Schwemmer) Langfritz. While living in Germany, Sonja graduated from Secretarial School and met her husband Robert who was stationed in Germany with the Army. In 1956 she left her parents and two brothers, Kurt and Helmut Langfritz, to move to the United States. The family lived in Watertown until 1968 when they bought a house and moved to Brockton. Sonja worked for many years at the King Size Company and later was a receptionist at the Braemoor Rehab and Nursing Center. She enjoyed knitting, ballroom and square dancing; was a member of the South Shore Singles and following the death of her husband she began to travel. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming an American Citizen.
Sonja is survived by her children Karen Danahy of Brockton, Bill Leslie and his wife Debra of Alvin, TX and Rick Leslie and his wife Carol of Hanson; six grandchildren Mark, Corey, Alicia, Nicki, Katie and Billy and loving companion John Belbin of Pembroke. She was the mother of the late Robert Leslie, Jr.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 5-8pm.
