James “Jimmy” Vincent Cerce Jr. died Monday, May 18th, 2026, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a year-long period of declining health. Cherished son of James and Beth Cerce (Hallamore) and a lifelong resident of Brockton, Massachusetts. James is also lovingly survived by his two sisters: Jackie Parenteau and her husband Guy, of Norfolk; and his twin sister, Katie Vacca and her husband Peter, of Brockton. He loved his “brothers” and valued their role in his life immensely.
The proudest role he played was “Uncle Jimmy” to his adoring nieces and nephews: Berkley and Harry Parenteau of Norfolk, and Audrey and Vincent Vacca of Brockton. He shared a special relationship with his Great Aunt and Uncle, George and Suzanne Tower of South Easton. Jim was also a beloved nephew, cousin, and grandson and leaves behind numerous relatives and family friends he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Harold and Constance Hallamore, and Guido and Lillian Cerce, all forever residents of “The City of Champions;” his Great-Grandmother, “Gigi” Margaret Tower (Clancy) of Easton; and his beloved Uncle, Kent Hallamore, of Sandwich.
Jimmy was a proud 2010 graduate of Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, Massachusetts, where he experienced ten of the best years of his life. There he participated in many adaptive activities including, but not limited to: swimming/aqua therapy, windsurfing, canoeing, bowling, horseback riding, and Prom! During Jimmy’s time at MHS, he worked with so many amazing teachers, staff members, and therapists who colored his life with purpose and integrity. The staff’s dedication and commitment to providing equal opportunity will never be forgotten. In later years, Jim also spent time at the Brockton ARC where he participated in their dayhab program and community outings.
Jimmy was a beloved member of his family and community. He was an active participant in the Brockton Special Olympics and an avid patron of the performing arts. He enjoyed vacationing with his family to Walt Disney World and New Hampshire. From the Magic Kingdom to the White Mountains, he lived a life rich with experience, opportunity, and an immeasurable amount of love.
