James Joseph Holland Sr. (Jim) 87, of Bridgewater, MA formerly of Brockton, MA, left us on June 24th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on July 5th, 1934 to James and Gladys Holland in Brockton, MA. After graduating from Brockton High School in 1952, Jim graduated from Wentworth University and went into the Air Force for 3 ½ years. Jim then pursued additional studies at night at Bentley University. After his service in the Air Force, Jim started working as an Electronic Technician at Harvard University and continued to work at Harvard for 37 years until his retirement. Jim was with his loving wife Joan (DeCoste) Holland until the time of his passing. Jim and Joan married in 1958 and were happily married for 64 years. Jim enjoyed traveling with his family, especially camping where he enjoyed the family oriented activities. Jim's main hobby and happiness came from helping others and making sure everyone around him was happy. He will be remembered as a selfless man that always focused on others. Jim is survived by his wife Joan and his four children, son Ed Holland and his wife Marcia, daughter Donna Simonetti and her husband Donald, son John Holland and his wife Deborah, son James Holland Jr. and his wife Dawn. In addition, Jim is survived by a wonderful family tree of 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt28) West Bridgewater on Thursday, June 30th from 9:30AM-11:30AM followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:30AM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Brockton Visiting Nurse Association.
