Online Obituaries James J.J. R. Johnson, 89, of Brockton, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Gilda (Caiola) Johnson and Mary (Collins) Johnson. James was born on July 10, 1924 in Kansas, Alabama. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer serving his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years and was a veteran of WWII and Korea. James was a resident of the city of Brockton for 54 years. He worked as a parts manager for Payne Elevator Co. for over 20 years. He was a member of Brockton V.F.W Post 1046 and the Brockton American Legion. J.J was an avid sports fan and was devoted to his family. He is survived by his children, James R. Johnson and his wife Susan of Florida and Donna Young and her husband Charles of Brockton; his grandchildren, Charles Young of Wareham, James Young of East Bridgewater and Christopher Young of Florida. He is also survived by his 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 9:45AM thence to St. Anns Church, 103 North Main St., West Bridgewater where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 11:00AM.
