Online Obituaries James A. Kalaitzidis, 81, of Brockton, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Nitsa (Papadopoulos) Kalaitzidis. Born September 15, 1934 in Anthousa, Kozani, Greece, he was the son of the late Anestis Kalaitzidis and Zoi (Papadopoulos) Kalaitzidis. Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Army and the owner and operator of Jimmys Donut and Pastry Shop in Brockton for over 35 years. James left his family in Greece and with no knowledge of English came to the United States as a twenty year old young man in 1955. Starting off as a dishwasher, he parlayed an ethic of hard work, providing superior customer service, accepting no handouts and a love of interacting with people to become a successful small businessman and owner of several enterprises within the food service industry. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton. Jimmy's greatest moments of joy in his life came from spending time with his family. His sense of humor and lifetime of accumulated wisdom made him the center of attention at family gatherings and other social events. His encouragement, support and love will be missed by those who knew him as will his heavenly handmade donuts and coffee. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Anestis Kalaitzidis and his wife Ellen and Zoi Kalaitzidis and her fianc Juliusz Kowalczyk; his grandchildren, Dimitri Kalaitzidis and Alexandra Kalaitzidis; his siblings, Effie Papadopoulos and Steve Kalaitzidis; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday, January 4th at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home Sunday 3:00-7:00PM.
