James McNeill, proud lifelong Brocktonian, recently of Taunton, passed away at the age of 60, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born and raised in Brockton Massachusetts, the son of Robert and Ruth, brother of Stephen.
Jim was a part of a large and loving Irish family with 35 first cousins, most of whom lived in or near Brockton. Cousins were Jim's first friends, a closeness that remained throughout his life along with many childhood friends, who were like brothers and with him to the end.
Jim was a graduate of Brockton High School class of 1979, he later attended Northeastern University, studying business.
Jim was a lifelong salesman. In the 1980's he sold car and home stereos at Soundtrack Audio in Brockton. In the 1990's he worked for Cambridge SoundWorks in Newton, where he was a store manager at several of their stores.
In the 2000's Jim took on the role of inside sales representative for computer and telephone systems at TriNet Systems of Westwood. And in 2010's, Jim worked for Kinetic Systems in Boston. Since 2016, Jim worked for Patrol PC in North Attleboro MA. Emerging technologies and new business development was where Jim excelled. Jim's work life was filled with accomplishment and friendships.
Jim was an avid fan of Rock & Roll, which he enjoyed by playing as loud as possible. He attended countless rock concerts at venues large and small, not the least of which was Live Aid in Philadelphia in 1985.
Jim other obsession was Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives; both the TV show and actual restaurants. A two-hour round trip to a clam shack or burger joint was time well spent in Jim's opinion. Speaking of Jim's opinion, he was more than happy to let you know exactly how he felt about someone or something. Direct and to the point.
The attached picture is of Jim from the summer of 1980 when he was 18 years old. For the next 42 years, Jim enjoyed life and lived that life on his own terms. Though he grew older, he never stopped being that kid in the picture.
