Slinger of Brockton August 27, 2007 James L. Slinger 86 years. Devoted husband for 59 years of Carmela (Colapinto) Slinger. Loving father of Ann Burke and her husband Bill of Brockton. Grandfather of Michael, Nicole and Colleen Burke all of Brockton.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in
St. Edith Stein Parish/St. Edward Church
at 9 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm.
Obituary
James L. Slinger 86 years of Brockton died Monday morning at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. He was the husband for 59 years of Carmela (Colapinto) Slinger. He was born in Hanover a son of the late John T. and Mary G. (Levings) Slinger. He had been a resident of Brockton since 1928 and had attended Brockton schools.
During WWII Mr. Slinger served with the US Army Aviation Engineers in the European Theatre. In 1986 Mr. Slinger retired from the Brockton School Department as a custodian having work many years at the Goddard Elementary School. In his retirement he had worked at the Conley Funeral Home.
Mr. Slinger had been a member of the Conte Club since 1946, a member of VFW Post 1046, Brockton and the White Pines Golf Course. He enjoyed golf, bowling and loved to travel.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Ann Burke and her husband Bill of Brockton. He was the grandfather of Michael, Nicole and Colleen Burke all of Brockton. He also leaves 2 nephews and was the brother of the late John T. Slinger, Jr.
