December 5, 1937 – August 7, 2023
Janice Evalyn Emery passed away on August 7th 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her parents John and Lois Hewitt, her husband of almost 50 years Richard C. Emery, and first cousin Bill Rice, who was like a brother to her. Janice is survived by her daughter Karen Callahan (and Dennis Callahan) of Bluffton, SC, son Richard Emery (and Stacie Pierce) of Halifax MA, son Daniel Emery (and Sheryl Hoss) of Hull MA. Grandchildren Danielle Delgado (and Jose Delgado) of Springfield, MA, Chloe Emery (and Barrett Duff) of Southbridge, MA, and Hannah Cappelluci (and Michael Cappelluci) of E. Bridgewater, MA. Great grandchildren Jonah and Mia Delgado.
Janice was born on December 5,1937, in Brockton MA, and grew up in the Campello section of the city. A Brockton resident for most of her life; she was very proud of her city. After graduating from Brockton High in 1955, she married and started a family. Janice worked in Administration for the Brockton Public School system in the Azure building at Brockton High School and later the Central Office. She was a proud and longstanding member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Janice enjoyed traveling, going to "the cottage" on Cape Cod, card games, and spending time with family and numerous lifelong friends. Janice absolutely adored her dear friends and spoke glowingly of them. Loved and respected by many, she will be missed by all.
The family invites you to join a celebration of life to remember Janice Emery on Saturday, Sept 16th at the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St in West Bridgewater. Visitation begins at 10am with a Memorial Service at 11am, followed by burial at PineHills Cemetery, West Bridgewater. In leui of flowers, please donate to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind. Their assistance was an immeasurable help to Janice and any donation is greatly appreciated.
