Mrs. Jean Marjorie (Cambridge) Hills passed away peacefully, Saturday August 20, 2016 at Braemoor Health Center, just prior to her 90th birthday.
Jean was the daughter of the late Prince and Johanna Cambridge of Sydney, Nova Scotia Canada.
Jean was educated through the Canadian school system and graduated from Sydney Academy and later received computer skills certification from OIC Boston. She came to Boston in her mid-twenties. This is where she met and married the late Waverly Hills, of Boston, MA. Jean made a career as supervisor of the mailroom at Beth Israel Hospital from which she retired. Jean was not the type of person to stay idle. Soon after retiring, she began volunteering as a Teachers Aid for many years at Pauline A. Shaw School, an elementary school in her community. She loved helping and reading to the children.
Jean accepted the Lord in her life at an early age, growing up as a member of St. Philips African Orthodox Church in Sydney, Nova Scotia under the leadership of Rev. George Francis. In her later years, she continued her spiritual growth becoming a member of Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop John M. Borders III. She was an active member for many years and also a member of the Sr. Adult Ministry. Jean was an amazing woman who had a zest for life. She had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Jean was truly a giver and never looked for anything in return.
She is survived by her Son, George Cambridge and wife Viola of Brockton, MA; Terry, Trudy, Philip, Yvonne (deceased), Curtis, Charles, Debbie, and Kimberly, all of Sydney, Nova Scotia and Toronto, Ontario Canada; and her only Grandchild, Joanna Cambridge of Brockton, MA, whom she loved and cherished very much.
