Obituary

Jean M. (Barnard) Matta of Brockton passed away on October 25, 2011 (the birthday of her beloved daughter, Nancy). She was 94 years old.

She was born in Dorchester, MA, the daughter of late Herbert Barnard and Jeannette Harding Barnard. She grew up in Easton and graduated from Pembroke High School class of 35. She retired from the Foxboro Company in East Bridgewater, MA. She enjoyed travel and spending time with her family.

Jean was the beloved wife of the late Thomas T. Matta. Survivors include her children Thomas T. Matta of Clearwater, FL and Carver, MA, Joanne Barbara Matta of Brockton, MA, Gerald L. Matta of Ware, MA, Alan Matta and his wife Debra of East Bridgewater, MA, her dear Brother Herbert “Ted” Barnard of Naples, FL and her close cousin Eleanor Yost of Vero Beach, FL. She leaves 11 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great, Great Grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Nancy Grant Raposa.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 4-7pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm. Private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean may be made to the charity of your choice.
