Jean E. (Scanlan) Morrison, 87, of Brockton, previously of Rockland, beloved wife of Ernest P. Morrison, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at BayPointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Brockton. She will be remembered as the selfless anchor of her family and, in recent years, devoted caretaker to her husband Ernie. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Born in Somerville on April 5, 1932, Jean was the daughter of the late Leo V. Scanlan and Margaret (Fleming) Scanlan. She was a 1950 graduate of Somerville High School. Jean was a long-time employee of New England Telephone and a proud member of the New England Telephone Pioneers. She found great happiness in spending time with her children and five grandchildren. She also enjoyed her annual Cape Cod Sisters' Weekend with her four beloved sisters. Her hobbies included bowling and playing Canasta. In addition to her husband Ernest, Jean is survived by her children, Donna M. Cruise and her husband Brockton City Councilor Tim Cruise, Paul D. Morrison and his wife Inés Vitug of Brighton, Lynne E. Grimaldi and her husband Andrew of Northampton, and David M. Morrison of Boston; her grandchildren, Caroline Cruise, Michael Cruise and his wife Stephanie, Joseph Cruise, John Grimaldi and Nicholas Grimaldi; and her sisters, Rose Marie Scanlan of Somerville and Claire Maestri of Burlington. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret (Peg) Stronach and her husband Cliff, Eileen McCarthy and her husband Gerald, and her brother-in-law Robert Maestri. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt. 123) Brockton on Tuesday, December 31, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral Mass for the repose of her soul at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton.
