Jeanne M. (Russell) Gawle, 71, of Raynham, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Guardian Center in Brockton after her courageous ongoing battle with Melanoma and subsequent Renal Cell Carcinoma. Born September 15, 1950 in Brockton, she was the daughter of Francis J. Russell and Mary C. (Higgins) Russell. Raised in Brockton, she graduated from Brockton High School in 1969. In her younger years, Jeanne worked as an elderly aid, helping senior citizens with daily tasks, cooking, and getting around. Jeanne had an incredible sweet tooth! Anything Chocolate! Brownies, cookies, and the little chocolate turtles. She has always loved caring for cats and kittens, rescuing several over the years such as Penny, Scottie, Max, Ella, and Simone. She found comfort in their affection and loved a good cuddle with them. She enjoyed traveling to California in recent years with Michelle to visit Shawn. This included seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, the Redwoods and more recently to Big Sur for Shawn's wedding. She also enjoyed hearing about her children's travels and collected magnets from each destination. As her health began to fail, Jeanne was less frequently able to attend family functions in person, but she loved seeing the latest photos from family and friends. It warmed her heart to see and hear about family celebrations such as her nephew's recent marriages as well as Chris and Kayla's new baby, Isla. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Michelle J. Gawle of Raynham; her son, Shawn M. Gawle and his wife Allison L. Speer of Texas; her brothers, R. Terrance Russell and his wife Anne Marie of West Harwich and Richard E. Russell and his wife Valerie of Lakeville; she was the former wife of Robert S. Gawle; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late David F. Russell and Frank Russell. She was also the aunt and friend of the late Maura A. Russell. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday at 9:00AM thence to St. Patrick Church, 335 Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00PM-6:00PM.
