It is with heaviest of hearts that the family of Joan (Asiaf) Colandrea, 83, had to say goodbye to her as she went home to the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2020.
Joan was born in Brockton on October 14, 1937, to Peter Asiaf and Mary (Rugus) Asiaf. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Paul. Joan is survived by her loving sister, Patti Lake and her late husband Howard of Hyannis and her brother David (Kathy) Asiaf of Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her brothers Peter Asiaf and Bruce Asiaf and her sister, Dian Asiaf.
She leaves behind her children, Linda (Peter) Collins of West Bridgewater, Michelle (John) Madden of East Bridgewater, Paul (Colleen) Colandrea of Palm Coast, FL and Kristine (Kevin) Slack of Berkley. Joan was blessed with her grandchildren, Shaun, Ryan, Michael, Conor, Nicole, Paul, Kayla, Derek, Matthew and James. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Joan had a special friendship with her sister, Patti Lake and her sisters-in-law, Maryanne Asiaf, Kathy Asiaf, Mary Asiaf, Barbara Perry and her late husband Allen, Mary Colandrea and her husband Ronald and Angela Colandrea and her husband Michael.
Joan had a wonderful career at Pediatric Associates, working there for more than 25 years. Joan's favorite past time was being with her family and playing bingo at the Elks Club in Wareham. Wherever she went, she was affectionately known as "the candy lady." Anyone visiting her, was certain they would be leaving with a handful of candy. Joan was a faithful communicant of St. Theresa's Church in Brockton and St. Patrick's Church in Wareham. She had a true faith in knowing that she will be with the Lord and be reunited with all her loved ones once again.
The family would be remiss if they did not sincerely thank Beacon Hospice/Amedisys and her hospice nurse, Cathy Roth, VNA Brenda Roman and Morgan at Cranberry Home Care for helping them through the most difficult time in their lives.
A Private Family Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church at 12:00PM. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. The Family would like to thank all their friends for their sincerest condolences, and they know you are all with them in spirit. God willing, they shall see everyone soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Joan's Memory be made to the Jay Fund at tcjayfund.org.
