Obituary

Joan M. Correia, of Brockton, age 53, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at her home.

Born in Taunton and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of Wilma (Jones) Engerman and her late husband Rupert Engerman, and George Correia.

She was a resident of Brockton for forty-five years and attended Brockton High School. Joan enjoyed watching movies, taking care of plants, and melting candles. Family was especially important to Joan and loved spending time with all of them. Taking trips with her son Isaiah and Rachel brought her much joy. Joan had big heart and an open-door policy and was always there for her children when they had a problem. She had a soft spot for pets, especially cats, always taking in strays.

Besides her mother, she leaves her children, Fred and his wife Lina Correia of Quincy and Isaiah Engerman of Fall River; her siblings, Michael and his wife Donna of New Jersey. Catherine “Cathy” Waitt of Middleboro, Richard Correia of Brockton, Stacey McCarthy of New York, and Mark Waitt of Halifax; three grandchildren, Bentley, Legendcy, and Alivia. She was the sister of the late Paula Engerman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 5:30 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment will be held at a later date in Agawam Cemetery in Wareham.
