Online Obituaries Joan M. (Brooks) Mahoney, 72, of Brockton and formerly of Mission Hill and Halifax, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at the South Shore hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Desmond C. Mahoney for 50 years. Born April 17, 1943 in Mission Hill section of Boston, she was the daughter of the late William Brooks and Mary (Nagle) Brooks. Raised in Mission Hill she graduated from Mission High. Joan was employed by Taymorshoe, following her retirement she worked for Mamouth Mart and Suffolk County District Attorneys Office. Joan enjoyed skiing, going on family trips and attending family parties. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Most of all she loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of Grammies Boys. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Susan Leydon and her husband Jimmy, Kevin Mahoney and Michael Mahoney (BFD) and his wife Carolyn; her grandchildren, Patrick Mahoney, Jimmie Leydon, Joey Leydon, Stevie Leydon, Tommy Leydon, Jack Mahoney and Bobby Leydon; her siblings, Robert Brooks, Susan Brooks Bath and her husband Richie, Richard Brooks and his wife Paula and Janice Lanigan and her husband Brendan; her sister-in-laws, Patricia Shamaly and Sheila Reardon; her brother-in-laws, Edward Gile and Leigh Mullen; she is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was the sister-in-law of the late, Jack Reardon, Patrick Shamaly, Phyllis Mullen, Maureen Gile and Kathleen Hood. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, December 11th at 9:00AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM.
