Obituary

Joan M. McGarry, 78 years, of Brockton, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 following a period of failing health. She was born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Dorothy (Leavitt) McGarry. Joan was a 1953 graduate of Avon High School. She had been employed at New England Telephone Company since her graduation and retired at the age of 48 due to Multiple Sclerosis. She had been a resident at West Acres Nursing Home for the past 13 years. She enjoyed bingo, travel and her dogs.

Joan is survived by a brother Maurice M. McGarry and his wife Susan of Ft. Myers, FL, niece Linda McGarry of Brockton; nephew Michael McGarry and his wife Amy of Cape Coral, FL, and dear friend Linda Melanson of Brockton.

Private family services were held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, followed by her burial in Melrose Cemetery. Donations in Joan’s name may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.
