Obituary

Joan A. Phillips, 90 of Bridgewater (formerly of Brockton) passed away peacefully on July 28th at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John Phillips for 34 years. Joan was a devout Catholic who attended daily services at St. Thomas Aquinas and was also a communicant of St. Ann's Parish in Raynham. An avid walker for many years, she loved walking at the Brockton mall with her friends and sharing a laugh over a cup of tea. Joan cherished her time as a volunteer at the Brockton Senior center. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking and spending time with her children and her many grandchildren. Joan was the devoted mother of Kevin Phillips and his wife Janet of Lakeville, Laura Phillips of Bridgewater, Karen (Phillips) Cavanagh and her husband Mark of Bridgewater, Christopher Phillips and his wife Virginia of Brockton, Gary Phillips and his wife Lisa of Taunton, Brian Phillips and his wife Michelle of Brockton and Kimberly Phillips of Bar Harbor, Maine; 11 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joan will be remembered as a selfless wife and mother, who always had a smile. She had a quiet strength. She never complained and always saw the best in others. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A funeral Mass will be held in St. Ann Church, 660 N. Main St., Raynham on Tuesday, August 3rd at 10:00 AM followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 S. Main St.,(Rt 28) West Bridgewater on Monday from 5:00-8:00 PM. A donation may be made in Joan's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation (ALZ.org ) or Catholic Charities (Catholiccharitiesusa.org)
