Obituary

Joanne M. (Dunphy) Vella, age 69, of Bridgewater, died October 14, 2017 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the loving wife of the late Paul J. Vella. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Lillian M. (Nevitt) Dunphy. Joanne was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1966. After raising her children, she became a Sales Associate at Sears for 19 years, retiring in 2005. She was a devoted grandmother and who enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She also liked to travel.

Joanne is survived by her children Joseph Vella and his wife Christine of Easton, Dawn-Marie Sakillares and her husband William of Bridgewater and Kristen Grant and her husband Timothy of Bridgewater. She was the grandmother of Cameron and Jordyn Vella, Samuel Sakillares, Timothy “TJ” Grant, Jr. and Shaylynn Grant and sister of Michael Dunphy of Hermon, Maine and the late John Dunphy.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 8:30am for a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
