Online Obituaries Joao Delact Mendes, 85, of Brockton, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. He was the husband of the late Idilia B. Mendes. Born June 7, 1927 in Fogo, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Jose Mendes and Paulina Delact. Joao enjoyed reading the Bible and talking to people about Jesus. He enjoyed visiting and talking to family and friends. He is survived by his 10 children, Paulina Evora, Madalena DaSilva, Maria E. Delact, Joao A. Mendes, Jose V. Mendes, Jose B. Delacth, Luis B. Mendes, Leonilde Mendes, Idilio Delacth and Benjamin Delact; he is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Funeral Information Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday, October 25th from 5:00-9:00PM. Calling hours will continue in the Brockton Portuguese Seventh Day Adventist Church, 28 Warren Ave., Brockton on Friday from 9:00-10:00AM followed by a funeral service at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
