John Alden "Jack" Bailey

Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose warmth, positivity, and ever-present smile touched the lives of those who knew him. Above all else, Jack loved his family, especially his beloved wife, Margaret, with whom he shared 57 wonderful years of marriage. The life they built together and the time they spent side by side meant more to Jack than anything.

Jack proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy, an experience that remained an important part of his life. He loved sharing stories from his Navy days with family and friends. Following his military service, Jack spent his career as a hardworking blue-collar worker and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 25. He believed in working hard, providing for his family, and treating others with kindness and respect.

Jack found great happiness in the simple things in life, particularly being outdoors and surrounded by nature. He loved tending to his garden, landscaping, watching the birds, and woodworking. He took great pride in creating and caring for the things around him.

Nothing, however, brought Jack greater joy than his family. To some of his very favorite people in the world - his grandchildren - he was simply "Papa." He treasured family celebrations and loved being part of his grandchildren's lives. Papa could often be found on the sidelines or in the stands at their sporting events, proudly cheering them on. Simply being together - whether for a celebration, a game, or time spent at home - was what Jack valued most.

Those who knew Jack will remember his smile and positive outlook on life. He was friendly and outgoing, caring and thoughtful, and genuinely enjoyed being around people. His warmth made others feel welcome, and his kindness came naturally. He will be deeply missed by his family and by the many people whose lives he touched.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret Bailey; his three children, Anita Bailey Schrubb and her husband, Terry, of Wellington, Florida; John Bailey III and his wife, Rachel, of Mansfield, Massachusetts; and James Bailey and his wife, Staci, of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Jack was an incredibly proud and loving Papa to his eight grandchildren: John IV (Jack), Marcus, Luke, Landon, Kerstin, Mason, Victoria, and Catherine. Watching them grow and being present for the important moments in their lives brought him tremendous happiness.

Jack is also survived by his sister, Rhonda Bailey of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his parents, John Alden Bailey and Cynthia Bailey; his brother, Rand Bailey; and his sister, Gwen Bailey.

Jack's family will remember him for the way he lived his life - with a smile on his face, a positive outlook, a caring heart, and an unwavering love for his family. After 57 years together, the love and companionship he shared with Margaret remain at the heart of the beautiful life and family they created together.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Massachusetts. Services will be private for family, close friends, and invited guests.
